David Moore, Asshole of the Day for February 16, 2015

Montana Rep. David Moore was the victim of a crime last year, and that crime was seeing a few naked bicyclists. True story.

But a member of the legislature doesn’t have to take this sitting down, he can do something, and so he has:

Moore, who is upset that group of naked bicyclists pedaled through Missoula last year, decided that what his state really needs right now is tighter regulations on trousers. His proposed bill, HB 365, would outlaw not just nudity, but also “any device, costume, or covering that gives the appearance of or simulates the genitals, pubic hair, anus region, or pubic hair region.” Per the Billings Gazette:
The Republican from Missoula said tight-fitting beige clothing could be considered indecent exposure under his proposal.
“Yoga pants should be illegal in public anyway,” Moore said after the hearing.

That’s right– yoga pants. Of all the problems in America today, yoga pants is where Rep. Moore decides he has had enough.

Thankfully his fellow legislature don’t share his passion on this issue, and so it’s been tabled. But Asshole of the Day isn’t an award about results, it’s about intentions and statements, and I think we can all agree, Rep. Moore is the Asshole of the Day.

It is David Moore’s first time as Asshole of the Day.

Drew Turiano, Asshole of the Day for April 29, 2014

After the 2012 election, some conservative pundits and GOP leaders said that the GOP would have to accept immigration. A bill passed the Senate last year, with some Republican support. Then it went to the House and the GOP makes the occasional noise about it, more negative than positive, with John Boehner saying he supports immigration reform, but he clearly doesn’t support it enough to bring it to a vote.

But this status quo of no reform isn’t enough for some. Drew Turiano is running for Congress from Montana, and he has a plan he calls “Operation Wetback”:

The Yellowstone County Republican Party wouldn’t let him speak at their Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner, and the Montana Tea Party disavows any association with him, but congressional candidate Drew Turiano may be the most honest conservative in the country. He has proposed something called “Operation Wetback,” which would be a program designed to deport every undocumented immigrant in the country and their children, too, even if their children are U.S. citizens.

Even if we can look past his use of the racist “wetback” slur, it’s hard to see how he can possibly justify deporting US citizens because their parents came here illegally.

And why does he want to do this? To win elections. He worries that Hispanics don’t vote Republican. But rather than try to have a party with ideas that can win in a democracy, his solution is to deport enough people who disagree with him, even if that includes citizens.

So, for his touting his racist “Operation Wetback”, Drew Turiano is the Asshole of the Day.

It is Drew Turiano’s first time as Asshole of the Day. He is the second Republican candidate to win for using the term “wetback”– the first was Chris Mapp running for Senate from Texas who wanted to let ranchers “shoot wetbacks on sight”.

Is Max Lenington Asshole of the Day?

Is Max Lenington Asshole of the Day for blaming “lesbians, queers, Indians, Mexicans and n——-” for electing Obama?

“It still baffles me as to how he got elected,” Lenington wrote of the president. “It must mean there are more lesbians, queers, Indians, Mexicans and n——— than the rest of us!”

Lenington told the local NBC station that “he is by no means racist and only used the word out of frustration.”

There’s more too. Read the rest at http://mtcowgirl.com/2013/11/01/montana-republican-caught-using-n-word-refuses-to-resign/

Lenington is County Superintendent and Treasurer in Montana and in–you guessed it– the GOP.
